Wednesday 18th December marked our first birthday and we’d like to say a big thank you to all of our guests who have helped to make it such a brilliant first year for us.
In celebration of the success of the past year and to mark this momentous occasion, we’re taking a look back at some of the great moments so far:
Llangollen-based hospitality group announce grand vision
Local business owners, Matt and Vicky Jones joined forces with Matt’s sister, Tracey Owen to take over the former Wynnstay Arms building and completely renovate it from top to bottom. Their plan is to open the venue as a high-quality restaurant, bar and cocktail bar which utilises the best of local produce in its dishes. After learning of the building’s history, they decide to re-instate the name ‘The Three Eagles’.
Renovation work begins on our ancient home
Wrexham-based Knights Construction Group are enlisted to deliver the full renovation of our grade II listed home. Every part was stripped back and new openings were constructed to enable the creation of exciting new spaces for our guests. Attention to detail was key and the results are the wonderful surroundings you can now experience as a guest.
We open on December 18th 2018 – and even manage to squeeze in a New Year’s Eve party!
As the renovation is signed off, we begin taking limited numbers of bookings and use this opportunity to streamline and refine our service procedures. The resounding influx of interest in the new venue culminates in a busy New Year’s Eve party. A great way to see in what is to be a huge year for the Three Eagles.
The first Live Lounge performance is held
Our regular live music event, the ‘Live Lounge’ kicks off in style with a brilliant performance by electro soul/pop act, GiGi. The Live Lounge goes on to host a number of fantastic musical performances.
The Town Mayor officially opens the Three Eagles
Welsh Labour’s Minister for Economy and Transport, Ken Skates is amongst the attendees at the official opening event which is concluded with the ‘cutting of the ribbon’ by Llangollen Town Mayor, Cllr Jon Haddy. The Three Eagles owners announce to guests that they have taken over Llangollen’s Royal Hotel and that they have ‘big plans’ for its redevelopment.
Three Eagles tops TripAdvisor for Llangollen restaurants
In under 5 months of opening, the Three Eagles makes such an impact on guests that many take to Trip Advisor to give their feedback and ratings. The many excellent reviews that are left elevates Three Eagles to the ‘Number 1 restaurant in Llangollen’ spot.
Woodshed Bar & Courtyard opens
Work on the old outbuildings are completed to create the Woodshed Bar with an ‘al fresco’ space for guests to make the most of the warmer months. Many Live Lounge events are held here in the sunshine throughout the year and a brilliant first summer is capped off with our ‘End of Summer Party’.
Executive Chef Adam shares his knowledge on BBC
‘Gareth’s Great Welsh Adventure’ follows former Wales rugby star, Gareth Edwards and his wife Maureen on a canal tour of Wales. In episode one, our Executive Chef, Adam Gaunt-Evans shows Gareth some of his best foraging spots along the Llangollen canal and then cooks up a romantic meal for the couple on their narrow boat.
We’re shortlisted for ‘Best Place to Eat’ at Go North Wales Tourism Awards
After only nine months since opening its doors, the Three Eagles receives a nomination and is shortlisted for ‘Best Place to Eat’ at the prestigious Go North Wales Tourism Awards. Despite missing out on the top-spot, this marks a significant acknowledgement of the achievements of the Three Eagles staff so far in such a short space of time.
Loyalty Club launches
In a move that is designed to reward loyal guests, the Three Eagles launches its Loyalty Club. With the accompanying app, Quadrewards the Loyalty Club enables guests to receive a percentage of their bill back as ‘points’ on the app. Guests can save up their points at every visit that they make and then use the points to claim money off.
Christmas kicks off with a bang!
